The lead soldier collection of Museo L’Iber is the largest in the world: more than 1,200,000 catalogued pieces, of which more than 100,000 are on permanent display in 17 rooms. Each room covers a different period of military history, from Antiquity to the 20th century, through dioramas, figures and miniatures of exceptional precision.

Exploring this lead soldier collection is a journey through five thousand years of human history in a unique format: the miniature as a historical document. Select a room to begin your visit.

What to see in the lead soldier collection

The lead soldier collection of Museo L’Iber combines two ways of telling history: the chronological rooms, which cover Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Napoleonic era and the conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries, and the large models that recreate decisive moments. The Battle of Almansa, with 10,000 figures, is the museum’s largest model.

The collection also brings together pieces by very different makers: handmade figures by Valencian makers in the Valencian Collections Room, the Cardinal Richelieu by the Italian maker Vertunni in the 18th and 19th Century Room and the Trophy Miniatures figures that recreate the film 55 Days at Peking.

How to explore the lead soldier collection

You can start with the main pieces or follow the chronological order of the rooms. Many scenes are built as dioramas, that is, miniature scenes that reproduce a historical episode with figures and scenery. To plan your visit, check how to get there and buy your ticket online.
