Alejandro Noguera Borel

Alejandro Noguera Borel grew up, quite literally, inside the museum: his entire life has unfolded in the historic centre of Valencia, just steps from the Palace of the Marquises of Malferit. The collection that gave rise to L’Iber was started by his father, Álvaro Noguera Giménez, and from childhood Alejandro learnt from him how to sculpt, cast and paint toy soldiers. Together they founded the artisan brand FaCaN, and since the 1990s they have curated exhibitions of historical miniatures in Spain and abroad.

He studied in Paris — Ancient History at the Sorbonne, Classical and Oriental Archaeology at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, Classical Languages at the Collège de France — and spent periods in New York and Athens before returning to Valencia, which he considers the best city in the world to live in. He completed his doctorate in Ancient History at the Universitat de València with a thesis on the Macedonian phalanx, and is a specialist in the Macedonian army, Greek numismatics and Hellenistic warfare, with publications in Zeitschrift für Papyrologie und Epigraphik, Ancient Macedonia, Meletemata and other international academic journals.

He has directed the Fundación Libertas 7, the Museo L’Iber and the Valencian Institute of Classical and Oriental Studies (FIVECO) since their founding. He served as Honorary Consul of France in Valencia and Castellón, has been Vice-President of UNESCO Valencia and is a trustee of the Fundación Cañada Blanch.

Beatriz Martínez Ruiz

Deputy Director

Beatriz Martínez Ruiz is Deputy Director of the Museo L’Iber, where she takes part in managing and coordinating the museum’s activity, contributing to internal organisation, research, the preparation of exhibitions, and the study and assessment of pieces in the collection.

Her training has always been linked to history, art and heritage. She holds an Advanced Vocational Training Certificate in Sociocultural Animation (TASOC) from the IES Jordi de Sant Jordi in Valencia, a degree in Art History from the Universitat de València, and specialised training in Art Analysis and Expertise. She also completed a Master’s Degree in Architectural Heritage Conservation at the Universitat Politècnica de València, with a dissertation devoted to the Palace of the Marquises of Malferit, home to the museum.

Part of the Museo L’Iber team for nearly ten years, she combines cultural management with hands-on work on the collection, studying, organising and showcasing it. Among her daily tasks is also, literally and figuratively, helping to keep the museum’s lead soldiers in line.

Paco Martínez Crespo

Painter and Restorer

Painting and drawing have been part of me for as long as I can remember. Although drawing fell by the wayside over the years, at thirteen I discovered what would become my great passion: miniature painting and scale modelling.

Since then, I have followed a path of constant learning: dioramas in various scales, different techniques with the sole aim of improving, and several painting competitions where I have put myself to the test and shared this passion with fellow enthusiasts. Like any true passion, it has had its pauses, but I have always returned to it with more energy than before.

Over the years I have expanded my repertoire: oil painting, commissions for historical and fantasy miniatures, and 3D-printed figures for different private clients — always in pursuit of excellence in every piece. This work is not only my passion; it also relaxes me and challenges me to surpass myself with every project.

Today I am fortunate enough to do this professionally at the Museo L’Iber, something I still find hard to believe. Working here is a privilege I value deeply — a few years ago I never imagined I would be a museum miniaturist, devoting myself to painting and restoration.

Jesica Bacete

Creative designer, painter and model maker

Hi! I’m Jesica, the museum’s creative designer. Ever since I was little I’ve felt the need to create with my own hands: drawing, painting, building and turning ideas into something real. Today I’m lucky enough to develop that passion in my work, learning constantly and bringing new creative projects to life.

At the museum I design projects that bring together visual communication, exhibition design and artistic creation. I create resources that help visitors find their way around, understand the collections better and enjoy the experience — from maps and information panels to graphic materials that form part of the museum’s visual identity.

One of the parts of my work I enjoy most is creating scale models, set pieces, painted backdrops and miniatures, turning ideas and historical content into visual elements that enrich the exhibitions. My work combines design, illustration, painting and craft techniques, following each project from the first idea through to completion.

What I like most about my profession is being able to turn an idea into something tangible, and creating projects that help tell stories and connect people with the museum.

Carmen Rodríguez Álvarez

Marketing and Sales

I came from Seville to Valencia to work at L’Iber, not really knowing what I would find. When I walked in for the first time and saw the collection in the Palace of Malferit, I was speechless and felt incredibly lucky to be working here. You can’t imagine from the outside what this place holds — and that is precisely what captured me.

I handle communications, social media and the commercial side of the museum, trying to make the most of everything we have here. I trained in tourism, and I think that is exactly the perspective a place like this needs: the eyes of someone who wants others to discover it and be left speechless, just as I was.

Creating content, thinking up new ideas, getting more people to the museum… and along the way learning history and culture without even trying. That is what I love about this job.

Marcela Mojica

Publicist · Sales and Promotion

A publicist by profession, with experience in strategic communication, sales and customer service. Throughout her career she has developed and coordinated cultural, academic and corporate events — from planning and promotion through to execution — always with the goal of creating meaningful experiences for attendees. Her interest in communication and project management has allowed her to connect people, institutions and audiences through educational and cultural initiatives.

She is currently part of the L’Iber team, where she works in sales and promotion. In her role she welcomes visitors and introduces them to the history and uniqueness of the museum, sparking their curiosity about one of the most important collections of lead soldiers in the world. She is also completing her studies in Tourism Information and Assistance, further developing her professional profile with specialist knowledge in heritage, culture and visitor services.

Juan Zambrano

Photographer, content creator and videographer

Juan Zambrano is a professional photographer, content creator and videographer with over thirteen years of experience in visual communication. Trained in photography and graphic design, he has built his career working on cultural, editorial and commercial projects, using photography as a tool to tell stories, convey emotions and create connections with audiences.

Alongside his professional work in the image world, he is currently studying Tourism Information and Assistance in Valencia, broadening his knowledge of heritage, culture and tourism communication. This training complements his visual work and reinforces his interest in cultural outreach and the promotion of historic and museum spaces.

He is currently part of the Museo L’Iber team, where he documents exhibitions, activities and institutional projects through photography and video, contributing to the promotion of cultural heritage through high-quality visual content.
