What happens when desire, freedom and social conventions come into conflict? Next Wednesday, 18 November, the L’Iber Reading Club, Museum of Toy Soldiers, invites us to delve into one of the most provocative and fascinating novels of 20th-century literature: Lady Chatterley’s Lover, by D. H. Lawrence.
In short: on Wednesday 18 November 2026 at 7:30 pm, the Museo L’Iber Reading Club discusses Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D. H. Lawrence. The session is led by Toni Zarza and, in addition, admission is free.

Lady Chatterley’s Lover, a controversial classic
First published in 1928, this work caused an enormous scandal and was banned for decades in several countries. However, its story goes far beyond romantic passion. It is a reflection on desire, intimacy, social differences and the need to live in harmony with one’s own feelings.
Constance Chatterley is trapped between the conventions of her time and a life that no longer seems to offer her what she needs. In the stillness of an English country house, her encounter with Oliver Mellors, the estate’s gamekeeper, awakens emotions in her. These feelings will call into question everything she thought she knew about love, the body and freedom.
Through intense prose and a deep insight into the human condition, D. H. Lawrence challenges the puritanical morality of early 20th-century British society. He also raises a question that is still relevant today: how free are we to decide how we want to live and love?
