Miniature Painting Course for Boys and Girls in Valencia

L’Iber, Museo de los Soldaditos de Plomo, has opened registration for its Miniature Painting Course for Children in Valencia, a training program aimed at young people aged 9 to 14 interested in creativity, detail and the world of miniatures.

The course will take place in the Patio de los Arcos of the Palacio de Malferit, the museum’s headquarters, a unique heritage setting that turns each session into a learning experience linked to art, history and hands-on practice.

An introductory, hands-on learning course

The activity is designed as an introduction to miniature painting, combining technical learning with the development of observation, patience and artistic expression. Over 8 in-person sessions of 90 minutes, expected to begin in September 2026, participants will work on the essential fundamentals of this discipline.

Course content will include:

  • Preparing and using a wet palette.
  • Brush handling and stroke control.
  • Applying base coats.
  • Introduction to highlights and shadows.
  • Color mixing and harmony.
  • Finishing touches and final details.

No prior experience is required.

Materials included

Enrollment includes all the materials needed for the course:

  • An individual wet palette.
  • Three brushes.
  • Two miniature figures to paint during the sessions.

Students will not need to cover any additional cost for materials.

Instructors

Classes will be taught by Paco and Jesica, professional painters and model-makers at Museo L’Iber de los Soldaditos de Plomo, with experience in artistic work and in teaching miniature painting.

The course is designed to offer close guidance and personalized attention, adapting the learning pace to each participant’s needs.

In addition to introducing students to the basic techniques of miniature painting, the course fosters the development of skills that are especially valuable at a young age, such as creativity, concentration, fine motor skills, perseverance and care for work materials.
