The Fundación Libertas 7 and L’Iber, Museo de los soldaditos de plomo present the course Africa. The Denied History, taught by historian, archaeologist and documentary filmmaker Carlos Micó Tonda.
Over 10 sessions of 90 minutes, this course offers a journey through African history from the origins of humankind to the present day, covering great empires, trade networks, colonial processes and the challenges facing the continent in the 21st century.
Moving beyond the clichés that have long shaped the Western view of Africa, the course invites participants to discover the richness and complexity of its past, as well as its essential role in global history.

About the Instructor
Carlos Micó Tonda (Valencia, 1992) is a historian and archaeologist from the Universitat de València, specializing in the indigenous history of Africa and underwater archaeology. He combines research with historical and anthropological outreach, and has taken part in documentaries broadcast by outlets such as National Geographic, TVE and Netflix.
He is also a naturalist and anthropological guide in several African countries, a regular collaborator with L’Iber and the Fundación Libertas 7, and the author of the book El país de la grulla. Historia de un viaje iniciático a Uganda (“The Land of the Crane: The Story of an Initiatory Journey to Uganda”).
